University Camp Wimberley, Texas
If you're interested in camping or the outdoor life, University Camp located in Wimberley, Texas is a great place to get accustomed to the Hill Country and all that it has to offer.
The camp is operated by Texas State University and reservations can be made by contacting the Texas State University Campus Recreation Center (Outdoor Recreation) at (512) 245-2004. You can also visit their website by clicking here.
The camp is located on 126 acres, it's perfect for day use or overnight use by families and other enthusiasts. There are a number of walking and biking trails located on the premises for both experienced and inexperienced hikers.
University Camp is situated along the banks of the Blanco River, so river access isn't a problem.
Please keep in mind that the Blanco River is the subject of many property rights disputes between local residents and those who use the river. Property ownership extends all the way to the center of the river, so there's generally no public access unless allowed by the property owners themselves.
A volleyball court is available, as are several different lodges which will suit large parties and get-togethers such as family reunions and retreats.
If you forget anything, Wimberley is just a few miles away! |
